Microsoft Office v. X is a version of the Microsoft Office productivity suite released for Mac OS X. It is the successor to Microsoft Office 2001 and is comparable to Microsoft Office XP. It was announced by Microsoft on September 19, 2001.
As it was the first version to be developed specifically for the Mac OS X operating system, Microsoft Office v. X is not backward compatible with Mac OS 9. Support for Office v. X ended on January 9, 2007, after the release of the final update, 10.1.9.
Included software
Office v.X includes Word X, Excel X, PowerPoint X, Entourage X, MSN Messenger for Mac and Windows Media Player 9 for Mac; it was the last version of Office for Mac to include Internet Explorer for Mac.
